For economical, fast set coatings for the mining and underground storage industries, choose RockGuard™, exclusively from Futura Coatings, Inc.
The RockGuard™ System is sprayed directly to the rock surface to provide a tight "blanket" of protection against rock wall cracking and degradation. The two-component polyurea coating cures within seconds to speed application and reduce shaft downtime. This labor saving system replaces time-consuming, conventional Shotcrete or bolt and screen methods.
What makes a polyurea perform better than other materials? Simple. When using advanced polyurea materials and technology, the fast-set coating flows out into every joint and crevice of the rock surface then cures quickly to provide an extremely tight "grab" on the rock. Surface adhesion this tight is simply not possible with conventional cementitious or spray coatings.
The RockGuard™ system is sprayed to a thickness of 2.0 mm (0.080"). That provides the same level of protection as 50-70 mm (2-3") of Shotcrete. And since it requires only one person to apply the coating, you save on labor costs. Typically, RockGuard™ can be applied at 185 sq. meters (2000 sq. ft.) per hour.
With this specially formulated sprayed polyurea coating, your mine will be protected by advanced 100% Solids / Zero VOC flexible technology. That means, a coating which will stretch to bridge hairline cracks. And since it produces a monolithic blanket over the entire rock surface, RockGuard™ doesn't obstruct pathways in narrow mining areas.
Since this is a 100% solids, Zero VOC coating, it's completely safe to be sprayed in a mine environment. This product adheres to the strict environmental codes common throughout North America and Europe.
The RockGuard™ system is based on a combination of over two decades of experience in coating and lining concrete containment vessels, abrasion resistant applications and structural systems. Futura is recognized around the world as a leader in high-performance polyurethane and polyurea technology.
